? for all those bloggers out there....

When so you normally offer blog candy? For hits? 500, 1000, 5000, 10000? Was thinking of what I would offer and when I should offer it!

Also was considering beginning some sketch challenges, a round-robin swap, etc. How do these work out for you?

How do you get peeps to visit your blog? Word of mouth? Send out email invites?

Please, please help me out! :o)

Monday, July 30

Alas...trying to clean up my stamp room...

I started on Saturday...or was it Sunday? I don't remember...the weekend is way too short! Anyway...I got the eyelet table cleaned off, the many baggies of cut cardstock sorted through (removed all the retired colors and put them in another baggy for personal use in my grandbabies scrapbooks).

I got the table cleaned off, things put away from playing last week, stamp sets put up, sorted out some of my retired stamp sets that I sold (waiting on payment), and swept.

So what do I have left? I need to sort out all my scraps by color, reorganize some of the stuff on my table that holds all my scrapbooks, Inspiration Sheets, and odd & end papers (designer and In Color paper). Hmmmm, I really need to see if I can buy that large filing cabinet at work! That would really help organize that area! Oh, and I want to buy some curtain rods to store my punches on....see that on SCS! What a great idea! Right now I have several mini three drawer storage bins and some a little larger. I think I want to go to see through containers, maybe then it will not look so crowded! My shelves are deep and the stackers are not deep enough so there is so much stuff stacked in front...so I have to move it whenever I want something! Grrr! LOL Need to sell my stamps!

Well, I am off. Time for bed for the night.

Garden Silhouettes - This will be one of my favs!

Ohhhh, how I love this set! This was the first card I made
with it and I am planning on making some more...the more the merrier to whet the appetites of my hostesses to earn this set! :O)

We made this card Saturday at Carol's workshop along with a card using Sweet Shapes and a 6 x 6 scrapbook page using Bugs & Kisses.

Stamp Set: Garden Silhouettes
Paper: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum, Very Vanilla,
Celery Petals DS
Inks: Perfect Plum, Pale Plum
Accessories: Round Tab Punch, Silver Brad, Celery Grosgrain Ribbon

Christmas in July - Speciality Class - Folds

This was a fun card to make - a hidden message card! I thought to myself when I read the directions on SplitCoastStampers...Oh dear! This is not going to be easy! But once I did the first one the girls found it easy to follow me as I made another one. I really liked this and will definitely try it with different sets for different seasons! Here we used Night of Navy, Bravo Burgundy, Old Olive, Pretty in Pink and Whisper White cardstock, Snow Angels, Santa's Helpers and Holiday's & Wishes stamp sets, Color Pencils, navy wide organdy ribbon and rectangle punch.

This card is based on Cami's Trifold. It was rather simple to make and cute! We used Old Olive, Ruby Red and Whisper White cardstock, Versamark and Basic Black inks, Old Olive and Ruby Red markers, Snoiw Flurries, Tags & More, and Holidays & Wishes stamp sets, olive narrow organdy ribbon, 1 3/8" circle punch, 1/8" circle punch and slit punch.

This is a gate fold card. I got the directions from Beate's blog. I wanted a rich and warm card and I think we achieved this by using Eggplant Envy, Rose Red, Always Artichoke and So Saffron cardstock. We used Riveting, Greetings Galore, and Frosty stamp sets, Always Artichoke, Rose Red and So Saffron markers, Fire Rhinestone Circle brads and 1/16" circle punch.

The last card we did was the Joy Fold Card that you will find below. We had a great time and found that it took the full two hours to make these four cards! I was surprised but the girls were definitely happy with the results!

I've been tagged! And I wondered.....

...what do I need to do? LOL So I went to Patti's blog to check it out! So I guess I am tell 7 things about me....

Let's see....

  1. I love contemporary Christian music. Cece Winans' Hallelujah Praise Song is a great song to get you into the worshiping mood! I like the faster music the best as it makes me feel free!
  2. I love spending time with my grandchildren. I have three-Stephen is 7, Jasmine is 5 and Trenton is 4. We are expecting another in January. I love having them around, spoiling them rotten and then sending them home. The only thing is that Stephen lives with us!
  3. I am pleasing plump...well, maybe more than that! I have tried a little bit of everything to lose weight but it just finds me again! Actually I am not discipled enough! I can do really great for about a month or two but I get discouraged because I want instant gratification!
  4. I love Stampin' Up and the products they sell. This year I was not so excited about the stamp sets but I LOVE the new accessories this year! My Pretties came today and I am going to go play! I actually have a shoe box swap to prep for and then I am cutting cardstock for a 50 card swap that I will be assembling on Saturday. Want to get them in the mail on Monday if at all possible.
  5. I have never been a "WOMAN" person. Most of my friends have been males...and I do mean friends. Women in general have always not been nice....know what I am saying? Yet I believe that God has brought me around full circle. I have build many relationships with women thru Stampin' Up! I think that was His test for me as I have and do enjoy working with the women of our church! As a matter of fact, for a couple of years I was co-coordinator for the women's TEAM (Together Experiencing A Mission). Then they decided to have everyone go thru the pastor to organize the events which is working out well too. However, I still organize all our conferences (our church district conference, Women of Faith, Pleasant Hill Women's Conference, etc.).
So now I need to go tag....let me see! I will come back to update this posting once I have commented and tagged someone's blog! LOL

I tagged...

Oh, the quiet is shattered!

Today the family returned from their vacation to Tennessee. The quietness of the past week is now gone but it's great to have them back. I didn't realize how much I had missed them, expecially Stephen and his laughter! He did well at reading while gone too...he cataloged in 25 books for the ten days they were gone. Amazing. Some of them were short and sweet but as long as he is reading I am not going to take them away!

Our church had our ground-breaking ceremony today after worship service. We are adding on offices (so we can remove the old ones and enlarge the foyer and I am hoping they add a welcome center), more class rooms, a better kitchen, more restrooms and a 1/2 size gym. Right now the community uses our church for funerals and weddings because we have the largest sanctuary but they go elsewhere for receptions, funerals dinners, etc. as our fellowship hall is small. This will not only get the Crosstraining classes (Sunday School) into separate rooms instead of offices but will give the community a place to hold the things that come with funerals and weddings. As a matter of fact, we don't have many 'gatherings' at our church as there is not enough room. So this will also aid in bringing the body together more often. One thing with our church is we are about 2 miles out of the community. The regular attenders come from a three county area so it takes planning to put together a gathering.

Well, I am off for the night. It's been a great week and weekend. Now back to reality with the family and work tomorrow!

Saturday, July 7

Flowers and Max :o)

I went outside instead of going into the stamp room and took some pictures of our flowers. :o)
James planted three hibiscus plants last weekend....look at the bloom and the buds!

This is the hibiscus tree he bought and planted three weeks ago. It has had a few big flowers on it but today it only has buds!

Last year he bought 50 daylily starts on line. He planted them and last year I think we had three or four that actually bloomed! This year they seemed to come up later than all those that I have seen but wow! They are blooming like mad!

Last but not least is our Max...sweet looking but oh man can she fool you with that! She spends most of her time outside. When she comes in she runs and rips and tears through the house! Right now she is shedding galore! I used 8 sheets off my lint roller to wipe down the couch and love seat this morning! This picture was actually taken last night in her "quiet time".

Georgie showed in good faith today!

....and she walked away with the GRAND door prize! An '06 IN COLOR stamp pad, a Palette of Prints package, a stamp set of her choice (I had several extras that were unmounted), a couple of pages of Accents & Elements and several extra small trinket thingies! Congrats to her! :)

Now that my stamp room is clean for today's event and it's over I am going to go play with some of the new colors. I went to SU! Color Combos to check out the new colors! It's an awesome tool and it you have never used it I highly recommend it! It has all the colors plus the 06 IN COLOR and 07 IN COLOR colors.

I am off to play. I very well may be back to upload some of the projects I make this afternoon! Might as well enjoy the air conditioning in this sweltering heat!

Have a great day!

Kids Say The Darnest Things

You know that kids say the darnest things. I have to share this with you.

My husband had taught Stephen, our 7 year old grandson a little diddy a while back...

M R DUCKS
M R NOT
M R 2. C M WINGS?
L I B. M R DUCKS.

On January 1 this year my mom suffered from Bell's Palsy. It affected the right side of her face. Her mouth is drawn down, eye is kinda saggy and she talks yet with a pronounced lisp.

We went to Steak 'N' Shake a couple of months ago. We were sitting there having a nice time of fun and family time when out of the blue Stephen says....

M R GRANDMA
M R NOT - I replied...
M R 2. C M BROKEN MOUTH? (He pulled down one side of his lip and talked out of a small area of his mouth.)

Needless to say we burst out laughing! Oh dear! It just came out of no where and surprised us all!

Then a couple of weeks ago we sat down with Stephen to make out some SUMMER GOALS for him.
  1. Read 100 books. He loves to read and I didn't want him to lose it through the summer!
  2. Ride his bike without training wheels. Yes! He is a scaredy cat but willing to do this!
  3. Tie his shoes. He just doesn't get it! Bunny ears, regular, nothing!

Then he decides everyone needed a list...

  • Daddy's list was don't yell so much and stop swearing.
  • Grandpa's list was stop teasing and no snacks before supper.
  • Great-grandma's list was to go to the doctor's to learn not to lisp.
  • Max's list was not to lick him anymore (Max is our dog).
  • I felt left out! He gave me no list!

Wanna book your party with the new book?

  • WHAT IS VSN???? SplitCoastStampers hosts VSN, which is short for Virtual Stamp Night! bimonthly! It actually starts at 6 pm on Friday night with a kid's project then from 7 pm until 11 pm they give one project an hour to complete. You are given 45 minutes to complete the project and clean up for the next. Then on Saturday it starts at 12 pm with a kid's project (which adults can participate in) then from 1 pm until 11 pm they once again post one project en hour to complete. Lots of fun! The theme for this one is "Jumping into Fall"!
  • They also host a VSBN, which is short for Virtual Scrapbook Night bimonthly! Check out the link for more information on what that is! They have one scheduled for August 4-5, 2007! I have yet to participate in one but this is a great chance for some of you awesome scrapbookers to put forth a great weekend of scrapbooking! The theme is "Curl Up With a Good Book"!

I am off to clean the stamp room for Saturday and get the make 'n' take made! Have a great July 4th and be careful with those fireworks!

Monday, July 2

Prepping for Catalog Open House...

Today I plan on prepping for the open house this Saturday. Got lots to do and a limited time to do it in! I want to sort out all my retired sets, get them priced, and ready. I plan on doing a make 'n' take for those that come along with door prizes too. Hmmmm, wonder who all will come? Who is willing to take the time to stop by? We shall see!

Of course, any sets that don't sell will be posted on a couple of different sites after the fact. I need to turn them over so I can get some new stuff!

I did order some new things yesterday, hoping it will get shipped out before Wednesday! I would hate to have to wait until after the 4th for shipment! 'Sides me and my girls need those sets so we can do our shoebox swap for the 13th and then we will be working on a 50 card swap on the 14th! Please...oh please....get it in the mail before the holiday! LMBO

Well, I am off! Gotta clean the stamp room tables off so I have room to make a mess again! LOL Maybe I will be back later to post some cards or something with the new colors. Want to see how much I can get done tonight! Here are some sample swatches of the new colors. Hmmmm, curious to see how well they blend with current colors!

Sunday, July 1

New Catalog - New Year - New Stamps - New Accessories!

Looking through the catalog I have found a few stamp sets that I like...not really love. But I do really like all the new 2-sided designer series papers, the turn-about for brads and buttons, the chipboard items and the scrappin' kits. The only thing that disappoints me is the cost of the SS kits! However, they have told us that #1-the new die cut adhesives are repositionable for up to 24 hours, #2-all the patterned paper is now 2 sided and #3 it includes textured paper. I will have to purchase one just to find out for myself if they are worth the $7 jump in price!

I am placing an order today for me and a couple of my girls as we are partcipating in a shoebox swap and a 50 card swap! Both require new "never before seen" stamp sets. I think I will order the Christmas SS kit too so I can begin putting together the Christmas 6x6 scrapbook that we will be doing in August.

I will let you know about the kit and the costs...worth it or not? :o) Gotta go...time to get our hineys in gear and get to church...played hookey this morning from Crosstraining (Sunday School). Hope the "Principal" doesn't hold it against us! I am so thankful that we serve such an awesome, loving Father!

God bless and have a wonderful SONday!

Technique Thursday on Sunday! - Glitter Window AKA Stained Glass

Clear Window Sheet
Neutral Cardstock (I used Very Vanilla)
Coordinating Colored Cardstock for card
Staz-On Ink
Open Image
Glue with small nozzle on end (Crystal Effects or 2-Way Glue-depending on image openings)
Glitter in several colors
Ink that coordinates with the glitters used (I used Pink Passion and Brilliant Blue)

1. Stamp image onto the window sheet with Staz-On.
2. Turn over the window sheet.
3. Fill in an area in the image with glue & do one area at a time.
4. When area is filled with glue, put glitter on & dump off the excess glitter.
5. Continue to fill in each area.
6. Using a square punch, punch out a "window" to cover like a frame.
7. Assemble the card by placing the window sheet glitter side down onto your layer.

8. Place the frame over the window sheet.

Note: I sponged around the edges of the layer and the frame to add more color and depth. For some reason my PP looks red! Yikes! LOL
