Great workshop today! Woohoo!

Great workshop, good showing and great ideas! :o) There were 10 guest there today and the hostess brought up about making cards out of the Simply Scrappin' kits without my prompting!

One guest booked a show for October 27 and then the same day we will do a SS Kit 60 card class! Soooo...because of that her party was over $370. Seven of the people bought SS kits for that day. On that day everyone will make their 60 cards then we will do an open swap. Anyone that wants to participate will split their cards up with the other participants...so everyone will walkaway with a variety of cards.

The cards we made today are the Silhouette card posted here (bottom card), the Silhouette card posted here and this card...which was a CASE from a recent Christmas card swap I participated in (thanks to Bonnie Beldon-card creator).

Stamp Sets: Garden Silhouettes, Snow Burst, Looks Like Spring, Star-Studded Season

Looks like I better get some Blog Candy around! :o)

Wow! Over 900 hits! Better get that Candy ready and pic posted! Comment on this post...when it reaches 1000 I will do a drawing once again!

I have a workshop tomorrow so later tonight I will try to post the cards we are doing. Diane loves to scrapbook but the older women that come do not so we are making 3 cards instead. These women do like the Simply Scrappin' kits though for easy and quick cards so I am going to make sure I take some samples with me of the newer kits that I do own! I have started making a few cards with the Winter Bright kit.

Well, time to go...have fun...post away here and good luck! :o)

Ahhh...the Ink, Spray and Smash Technique! :)
  1. Lightly spray glossy card stock with water. Drop on a few drops of different reinkers. I used Purely Pomegranate, Only Orange, River Rock and Barely Banana.)
  2. Using another piece of glossy cardstock, spray with water and smash it down onto the first piece. Continue to do this with three to five sheets. Each sheet with come out with a different look and each lighter than the first.
I started with Very Vanilla (8 1/2 x 5 1/2). I then took a sheet of the IS&S (5 1/4 x 4) and layered on top. Layer a piece of Purely Pomegrante (5 x 3 3/4). Cut to pieces of Very Vanilla (2 1/2 x 3 and 2 1/2 x 1 3/4). I randomly stamped the leaf from Autumn Harvest in Purely Pomegranate on the smaller piece, the pumpkin in Pumpkin Pie and the acorn in River Rock. I used a distresser tool on the edges of the Very Vanilla squares before layering. I finished it off using "lovely" in Purely Pomegranate and "Autumn" in Pumpkin Pie.

This challenge was to make a 2-4-6-8 box. I used Only Orange, Wild Wasabi and Whisper White cardstock, Wild Wasabi double-stitched ribbon and silver brads for the handles, the sentiment (stamped in Wild Wasabi) & pumpkin (stamped in Only Orange) came from Dotted Autumn set. I wheeled the Autumn Dots in Chocolate Chip.

This challenge was to share your love with someone! I made this card for my DH - our 9th anniversary will be January 1, 2008. :) I used Night of Navy (5 1/4 x 4) and Whisper White cardstock ( 8 1/2 x 5 1/2, 5 x 3 3/4, scraps); Night of Navy, Real Red and Blue Staz-On inks; Bashful Blue brads and white vellum. The stamp sets used were So Very, All About U, Big Deal Alphabets and Seaside Sketches.

2 RAK card bonuses from VSN

These two cards were done as bonus cards at VSN - RAK (Random Acts of Kindness). They posted a list of people that were ill with anything from depression to cancer. I picked out two of those and made these cards especially for them.

The first is for Brenda who is recovering from double mastectomy and preparing for chemo. I started with River Rock ( 8 1/2 x 5 1/2). I used a piece left over from the Ink, Spray & Smash technique which I will be posting later ( 5 1/4 x 4), layered with Rose Red Petals DS paper (5 1/4 x 2). I cut a piece of Purely Pomegranate, River Rock and Whisper White. USing the corner rounder I rounded the corners of all three layers. I used Purely Pomegranate and River Rock with Best Blossoms stamp set, stamping repeatedly before reinking. Layering them together, I used a 1/16" punch to punch through, poked a silver brad through the Wild Wasabi double-stitched ribbon. Using Basic Black and Sincere Salutations stamp set I stamped the sentiment "Thinking of You".

The second card is for a little 6 year old girl, Julianna, who was diagnosed with brain cancer. Her story touched my heart as my grandchildren are 7. 6 and 4. You never think of how well off you really are until you read a story like hers! So I wanted something to remind her of happiness! I started with Pink Passion (8 1/2 x 5 1/2). I layered with Whisper White (5 1/4 x 4), Wild Wasabi (5 x 3 3/4), Pink Passion ( 4 3/4 x 3 1/2) and Whisper White (4 5/8 x 3 3/8). I used Pink Passion, Wild Wasabi and Garden Whimsy stamp set for the card front. I thought this would brighten anyone's day!

3 of the cards I made for VSN last weekend

This one we had to make a card pertaining to the saying. You didn't have to use the saying but it had to something that went with it. I thought right away of these two little girls...friends like you! I started with Creamy Caramel (8 1/2 x 5 1/2). Then layered on Brocade Blue (5 1/4 x 4). On very Vanilla (5 x 3 3/4) I stamped the girls from Seaside Sketches in Chocolate Chip and colored them in with Prue Color Pencils. Using the Crafters Kit I paper pierced the upper corner and added a Soft Subtles button. I sponged the edges with Chocolate Chip. I used my computer to type the words out from the saying on Very Vanilla, layered it on Brocade Blue. Then layered them all together.

Here we were to make a Money Envelope. I started with a standard envelope, sealed of course! I rolled Autumn Dots on with Chocolate Chip ink. Then I cut 2" (I think) from one end. Taking the other piece I rolled it through a paper crimper. I added Mustard grosgrain ribbon around the top. Using the two tag punches from SU! I punched the larger tag from CC and the smaller tag from Whisper White. I stamped "sew sweet" from Tags So much in Chocolate Chip, colored the flower in using Stampin' Write markers, punched a 1/16" hole in the top and pushed a silver brad through mustard grosgrain ribbon to top it off.

Last but not least for this post is my DIRT PILE card! LOL I started with Creamy Caramel (8 1/2 x 5 1/2). I did Direct To Paper (DTP) technique with Really Rust ink along the edges. I used a piece of the new Apple Cider Designer Series paper (5 1/4 x 4) for the next layer. I crumped it up, then again did DTP with Really Rust. Then I placed on a 2 x 5 1/4 piece of Really Rust in the middle after once again doing DTP. The focal point is a 3 1/2 x 3 1/2 piece of River Rock with DTP Really Rust. I then cut around one of the decors on the same sheet of Apple Cider DS, sponged the edges and layered.

Blog Candy

I have been hemming and hawing all weekend but decided today is the day! I went to the local stamp store (well, not too local-40 miles away) and picked up some really nice AUTUMN colors for the blog candy. And here it is....

Click HERE to see the Blog Candy! I could still not upload a pic! There are 10 1/2 sheets of fall color pattern paper, autumn brads, autumn buttons, 2 packages of 5' of fibers and a stamp that says, "I consider the day a loss unless I can Emboss!".

How to enter - post a comment to this post. The day it hits "500" on the counter I will take the names, put them in a bowl and let my grandson pick out a name! So post your comments today! :o)

***AS SOON AS POSSIBLE...I WILL GET THE PIC UPLOADED! At that time I will also post the pics of the Winter Bright Scrapbook we completed. Oh...and maybe pics of my new filing cabinet! I have the stamp room about 1/2 done now and have filled the top two drawers of the lateral file cabinet - the top with business supplies and the second with all my 8 1/2 x 11 paper! And still have a little room left there for my In Color papers too. :o)
