Tomorrow's Make 'n' Takes

These cards are what we are making at tomorrow's workshop. Simple but cute. The ladies that are coming are new and too much overwhelms them! :o) After the workshop we are having lunch and then making cards with Simply Scrappin' kits. Once we are done we will swap out cards. Each person bought different kits so there will be a variety! I have packed all my verses and words so they will also have a variety to stamp on and in.

Super Kewl Technique - Melted Crayon Background

I found a super kewl technique on SplitCoastStampers and we did it at our bi-monthly stamp camp yesterday.

Clothes Iron
Aluminum Foil
Assortment of Crayons
Whisper White Cardstock
  1. Cover your iron with a piece of aluminum foil.
  2. Turn the iron on med-hi.
  3. Once it is heated run the crayons over the aluminum foil (brown, red, yellow and orange on sample).
  4. Run the iron over the white cardstock (do not use glossy).
  5. Repeat #3 and 4 until you get the look for you.
  6. Cut, layer and design your project!
  7. It is recommended to use Craft ink but we used Stazon on this sample.

Stamp Set - Garden Silhouettes, Holidays & Wishes
Cardstock - More Mustard, Basic Black, Ruby Red, Whisper White
Ink - Jet Black Stazon
Accessories - Corner Rounder punch, black eyelets, Prima leaves, crayons

Here is my sample for the Sketch Challenge. :o) Finally able to get it uploaded!

Oct. VSN Mini Challenges

Challenge #1 - A Drive & A Double Dog Dare - The Sistah Hostess posted a list of places to send cards to for several good causes. I made this card for Operation Quiet Comfort (get-well cards signed with positive personal note to wounded U.S. troops in 35 combat support hospitals served by non-profit organization).

Challenge #2 - Sketch Challenge - The Sistah Hostess posted a sketch of a card layout and we were to create a card following the sketch.

Sketch #3 - Time for a Martini - The Sistah Hostess gave us this saying to influence our card. Since I didn't own the stamp I made it on my computer along with the martini glass. :o) Everyone liked the "marinated crab"! LOL

Challenge #4 - Abundant Supply - The Sistah Hostess gave us the challenge of using 2 stamped images, 4 layers, 6 colors and 8 embellishments! The hardest part was the embellishments!

THANKS FOR LOOKING! :o)
I WILL BE POSTING STAMP CAMP ITEMS WITH DIRECTIONS LATER!

What a great weekend!

Carol came down for the weekend. Last night we participated in the Oct. Mini VSN at Split Coast Stampers, What great fun! If you want to see our creations you can see Carol's here and mine here in our galleries. I tried to upload the pictures here but must be they are having technical difficulties!

This afternoon we did our bi-monthly stamp camp. We did 5 projects - a tunnel card, a 2-5-7-10 flap box, a genie bag, a card using the melted crayon background and a photo wallet. I will have these uploaded on my SCS gallery tonight here. Once they have the technical difficulties figured out I will post them here with better directions!

After the stamp camp Carol and I played doing the "Ink, Spray and Smash" technique and the "Melted Crayon" technique. We ended up with enough for 54 backgrounds! :) Can you tell we were having fun!

Well I am off for now. Need to get pictures taken of the stamp camp items and get them loaded. Great end to a great weekend!

Hubby's Birthday Card

This is my hubby's birthday card. I was in Chicago on his birthday so yesterday while he was at work I made this card for him. When he got home I took him to Applebee's for lunch, Wal-Mart where we purchased two pair of jeans for work. I was going to take him to the show but we were 20 minutes too late!

Green cardstock is 4 1/4 x 11, scored at 5 1/2.
Vanilla cardstock is 4 x 5 1/4.
Apple Cider designer paper is cut 4 x 1 1/2.
Rust cardstock is 4 x 1/2 (2).
Green block is 3 x 3.
Vanilla block is 2 3/4 x 2 3/4.

I stamped the tree with Versamark from Lovely as a Tree then used green and russet Pearl Ex over the leaves, Gold over the truck and ground. I then stamped the little leaves and used green, Birthday Wishes from Sincere Salutations with gold and pine branches with russet.

I layered a piece of Vanilla inside and hand wrote a special message for him. :o) I thank God everyday for bringing a good Christian man into my life of turmoil! He may be a pest but he loves God with all his heart and he accepts me for who I am.

Hello from Chi-town AGAIN! :o)

I am SOOOO looking forward to getting home tonight! I am probably about 80% done with my project here. I may have to make another day trip down next week as they want some help implementing a tool cleaning program. I implemented it at our plant and will be more than willing to help them out too. They will be amazed once they have all the tools in place how much easier their jobs will be!

I am looking forward to a quiet weekend, taking James out for his b-day (was Tuesday while I was here) and maybe some relaxing stamping. Isn't tomorrow one of the mini-VSNs? Now I will have to check that out!

Have a great weekend. Hopefully Sunday I will be able to load some new cards or something! God bless!

Tuesday, October 2

Hello from Chi-town!

I had to make a trip to Chicago yesterday and today for my every day work. It's been interesting to see the changes that have happened over here in the year plus since coming down. I was driving down once a month for a few days and some times for a week at a time! But as things progressed at our plant with all the new launches last year it was decided I should stick close to home. I came out here to work on a project for them and should be on my way home later this afternoon!

Anyhoo - the reason for this post is to sign up for Round Robin Round 2! I will be taking sign-ups until October 10. I will establish the list, the route of the cards and will drop them in the mail to the first person by October 15. You have 3 days to add your embellishments to the cards and send them on to the next person on the list!

Just post your name here and email your name and address to tcates@lpemail.com. Thanks for participating! There will be room for 6-7 players so sign up today!
