A weekend of play....

Carol and her son came visiting and stamping for the weekend. We USED tons of scraps this weekend - I think we only cut up full sheets to make the actual card itself! Here are some of the cards we made (after we finished sorting scraps!)....

We made 30 of these for my daughter's baby shower in January.
Stamp Sets: Hugs & Wishes, Bundle of Joy

Cardstock: Whisper White, Bashful Blue, Night of Navy

Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Pure Color Pencils

We did these using Emerging Colors tutorial here
Stamp Sets: Serene Sunflower, Cheery Chat

Cardstock: Whisper White, Groovy Guava, Soft Sky, Apricot Appeal, Certainly Celery

Ink: Soft Sky, Groovy Gauva, Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Bravo Burgundy

Accessories: Celery Grosgrain Ribbon

We did this spotted background using this tutorial.
Stamp Sets: Time Well Spent, A Beautiful Thing

Cardstock: Certainly Celery, Regal Rose, Glossy White
Inks: Basic Black, Stampin' Spots (Certainly Celery, Apricot Appeal, Bashful Blue, Regal Rose, Bravo Burgundy

Accessories: Rose Ribbon, Glue Dots

This one was done using the MAGIC tutorial here!
Stamp Sets: Refuge & Strength
Cardstock: Whisper White, Blue Bayou, Sage Shadow, Glossy White
Ink: White Craft Ink
Accessories: Winter White EP, Sage Shadow and Blue Bayou Refills, Blue Bayou Ribbon

Carol's son is special-needs but loves to stamp. This was one of the cards we did with him. They went to this particular lighthouse this summer and he was in awe that there was actually a stamp to match! He also made fun that I colored mine RED! When mom asked him what color it really was he said, "PURPLE!" She just laughed....it's actually white and black.
Stamp Sets: Coast to Coast
Cardstock: Retired SU colors (not sure of what they are), Whisper White
Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Pure Color Pencils

This was the other card we made with Eric. He wanted to make one for his brother. They are close and only 10 months....yes you read it right...10 months apart. He learned this year to print his name so his mom wrote "Andy, Love U, Eric" on a piece of paper and he copied it on the inside of the card. He did such a good job! He colored his green, which is his nephew's favorite color.
Stamp Sets: Loads of Love
Cardstock: Retired SU (not sure of colors), Whisper White

Ink: Basic Black
Accessories: Pure Color Pencils, Real Red SU Marker

Last but not least....Carol and Eric made this card for me. She used some of my retired cardstock so I am not 100% sure what the colors are. :)
Stamp Sets: Snow Bursts
Cardstock: Retired SU, Whisper White
Inks: Bashful Blue, Brocade Blue (I think!)
Accessories: Sponge, Blue Gingham Ribbon, Cuttlebug

Needless to say we had a blast. They arrived Friday afternoon and left early this morning.

Every Sunday they travel to her mom's house, take her out for brunch and then help her with housework and laundry. She has broken both ankles over the past two years and is not able to move up and down stairs freely.

It's great that Carol takes care of her mom like that. Not many people are that caring and considerate of others even their own family. My mom lives with us...my husband suggested that she move in with us when my sister left the state. She is great to have around most of the time. :-)

Well, I am off for the evening! Have to post these to Split Coast Stampers! Have a great night and watch for more interesting and fun things to come!

Great gift from my DSIL....

She took all the pictures from our family reunion in Tennessee this summer and made everyone a scrapbook calendar from snapfish.com. On each b-day and anniversary is a picture of the couple or individual. For extended family members that were not there they still put their names on their b-days. It was great to see that we will be able to enjoy this for the whole year! She also included a burned CD with all the pictures too.

This is the cover of the calendar....

Back Row: Greg, Angie, Art, Sherrie, Dawn, Craig, Jerry, Benjamin
Middle Row: James, Theresa, Tom, Detta, Chrissy, Amanda, Sammy
Front Row: Leah, Courtney, Kayla, Sarah, Belle, Maddie, Gabby, Jake
Missing are a WHOLE LOT! LOL

January Newsletter-Opening Statement

Oh, the Christmas season has come and gone. Hopefully your season was filled with the joy and love that Christ has to offer. We had a great family get-together the Sunday before Christmas and then a quiet Christmas morning with our live-in family.
This year will probably be the last year that Stephen believes in Santa Claus so we started a new tradition this year. We talked to him of the true reason behind the season…the birth of Christ. This morning we took turns reading from his bible Luke 2, the birth of Christ. Then he asked Papa to pray before opening gifts. It was a nice touch before the chaos of the day started! :o) The guys are playing Battleship and the house is filled with laughter! :o)

January Newsletter-Stampin' Up! Happenings

STAMPIN’ UP HAPPENINGS
2008 SPRING-SUMMER COLLECTIONS
The new catalogs have arrived! I am totally in love with it. I have to admit I was a bit skeptical about the “two catalogs a year” thing but after viewing this one and listening to a teleconference with Shelli, owner of SU!, I can see where they are going with the changes they are making.
#1…this allows them to keep up with the most current trends more frequently than once a year. #2…it allows for more season books. #3…any new stamp sets introduced in the new catalog WILL BE available for 12 months… they may not be listed in the next catalog but will remain on the dormant list for a minimum of 12 months. This is great to know as you are not “squeezed” into a 6 month time frame for the “gotta haves” on your wish list! :o)
What is new? Rub-ons, felt flowers, new scrapping kits, awesome new sets and 12 x 12 cardstock back in all colors!

WHY ALL THE CHANGES?
Stampin’ Up! is commited to Statement of the Heart…
TO LOVE WHAT WE DO
AND SHARE WHAT WE LOVE,
AS WE HELP OTHERS ENJOY CREATIVITY
AND WORTHWHILE ACCOMPLISHMENTS…
IN THIS WE MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
They are also interested in keeping with the constant changing in the field of scrapping and stamping. At the time that they decided to cancel all the 12 x 12 in all colors they felt they were making a good business decision based on the sales of those items. However, as the past 6 months passed they realized that it was not a wise decision…and they heard the voices of demos and customers alike. Thus, those items are back.
Have you ever tried to please everyone in your family? At work? Even within your home business? You can not please everyone all the time. With 50,000 demonstrators and 100’s of 1000’s of customers there is no way for SU! to please everyone. They are keeping an open mind and an open ear to what people have to say. There are bound to be growing pains with any changes that are made…whether it is in your home life, work life or fun life. Please be patient as they continue to grow into being one of the top home-based sales companies!

February 1-March 17, 2008
There are a couple of changes with Sale-A-Bration. The first you may have noticed is the name! It is no longer SELL-A-BRATION but SALE-A-BRATION. SELL makes you think of SELLING but SALE means WOOHOO! What more can I say-what woman doesn’t like a SALE????
They also changed the dates and length of time. The reason for the change is because of the release of the new Spring-Summer Collections catalog.
The FREE stuff is the same….$50 purchase or $300 show is a FREE SAB stamp set. If you sign on as a demonstrator you have your choice of any stamp set in the book valued up to $47.95! What an awesome way to begin your business!

ALL IN THE FAMILY PROMOTION

TS&R HAPPENINGS
NEW STAMPIN’ UP DEMO WEBSITE
My personal SU! website will be new and improved on January 8th! They have been working hard and diligently on making the websites more up-to-date and user friendly. Some of the added items to the new and improved websites are…new designer templates, list of upcoming events listed on the front page, a color-coded calendar by type of events, a calendar manager, professional ecards, new and improved promotions page and more! Be sure to stop by any time after January 8th! I may not have it fully up and running with all details until the following weekend when I have time to put it all together! In the meantime...visit Theresa's SU! Specials for some specials that I have listed!

STAMPING WITH THERESA BLOG
In the meantime…stop by my little blog at Stamping With Theresa and join in the fun! I use this blog to post projects, techniques, upcoming events and family “stuff”. I also have blog challenges (sketch and color challenges) where you can win free stuff! Oh…and blog candy for number of hits on the blog. Right now I am a little behind on sending out stuff with the holidays but everything will be caught up during my “winter break” from work… WOOHOO 11 days off in a row! :o)

YAHOO GROUP VS. SPLIT COAST STAMPERS
There has not been much activity on Tap, Stamp & Roll Yahoo group so I am going to close it at this time.
Please join us a Split Coast Stampers to post your projects! It’s free and there is so much helpful information there…projects, techniques, challenges, etc. If you are lacking on creativity…I know I some times have HUGE creativity blocks…visit and see what’s new!
I have so much fun at the VSN (Virtual Stamp Nights). It really pushed you to the limits of limited-time creativity! :o)

TIME TO GROW AND SHARE WITH FRIENDS
I am looking to make some changes with the new year coming soon. And I hope that you will help me achieve these new goals.
In your circle of friends who could you introduce to the art of stamping and scrapping? For every purchasing (or booking) person that you introduce to me this year will benefit you greatly!
Not only will they get a special surprise for purchasing ($50 minimum) but you can earn something too!
I am in the process of making a BOOK TO LOOK board for old and new customers alike. When someone books they get to pick an tag from the board. I will write that “gift” down along with the booking date in my calendar. When the show is held (minimum of $150 in sales to qualify) the hostess gets that item for FREE…and you as the friend that introduced will get the same item!

DEMO SIGN ON BONUS
If you sign on as a demo from February 1-March 17 (during Sale-A-Bration) I will give you $30 towards your kit purchase. This is in addition to the EXTRA stamp set (valued up to $47.95) that SU! is throwing into the pot too! :o) Ask me for further details today!

New Catalog Has Arrived!

I totally love the cover. It's done in Groovy Guava and a really gorgeouos flower stamp. I am going to have to go through the book more thoroughly to find the name though! I just glanced through last night as I got home late. My youngest grandson had his first Christmas concert last night....so cute with all those little ones!

Christmas Exchange Make 'n' Take

We had our annual Christmas exchange this past Saturday. We started with a great lunch...baked ham, baked potatoes, green bean casserole and topped it off with chocolate cheesecake (Georgia brought that 'cuz she knew we are all about the chocolate!) for dessert. Yummy.

We did this card for the make 'n' take using the Holiday Glitz promotion card kit and Time Well Spent, which is a new level 3 hostess set. We stamped the images in Basic Black and then watercolored with Wild Wasabi, Soft Sky and Real Red inks. The kit included the pre-cut cardstock, ribbon and rhinestone brads - a nice touch for almost any set that you would like to use.

We exchanged gifts which is the best part because we had "Secret Santa"! Carol got mine and I received the SNOW wheel and Special Delivery for Boys...I have a new grandson arriving in less than a month! So I can start putting his album together now. Glad I have 11 days off after this week. :) Gives me a chance to get some much needed organizing done too!

At first I didn't even think about giving "prizes" for participating in my challenges. Like...that must be a "DUH" moment.... so I will have to go back to the first couple of challenges....

Sunday, December 16

I thought last weekend was bad...BUT....

...this morning when I opened the door I PUSHED the snow with the screen door! I took a tape measure out and there was 16" on the porch! The snow plow went through about 8 am this morning then a guy came out to plow us out (we put our name on his list last year) and he went plow first into our ditch! He thought the driveway was on the WEST side of the mailbox! OOPS! (Should have taken a picture of that but didn't think about it! LOL)

So we are snowed in with two boys that have ADHD...heaven help us all! My grandson came and stayed the night and I doubt we will be able to get him home. They are talking at least another 5"! So we will be looking for extra snow pants so they can go outside! LOL Just so we can keep our sanity for the day!

A WINTER STORM WARNING REMAINS IN EFFECT UNTIL 7 PM EST /6 PM CST/ THIS EVENING. SNOW THIS MORNING WILL TAPER OFF BY THIS AFTERNOON. NORTHEAST WINDS INCREASING TO 20 TO 30 MPH WITH GUSTS TO 40 MPH WILL CREATE BLOWING AND DRIFTING SNOW THAT WILL SEVERELY IMPACT TRAVEL TODAY. TOTAL SNOWFALL ACCUMULATIONS SHOULD RANGE FROM 7 TO 12 INCHES WITH LOCALLY HIGHER AMOUNTS. A WINTER STORM WARNING MEANS SIGNIFICANT AMOUNTS OF SNOW... SLEET... AND ICE ARE EXPECTED OR OCCURRING. STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE. (This came off from weather.com for our area.)

12.09.07 Color Challenge #5

Good morning. The color challenge is
Bravo Burgundy, Soft Sky, Almost Artichoke and Very Vanilla.

You have until December 23 to post your entry to your website and post the url in your comment on this post. The winner will receive an assortment of embellishments. Good luck!

Monday, December 10

Weather outside is frightful....

Boy what a mess! We have had rain, freezing rain, sleet and snow over the past 36 hours. The back roads are a mess...slick and icy. The main roads seem to be pretty clear though. Please pray for everyone traveling today for a safe arrival.

What a weekend! First our wash
er went out-we went shopping for a new one and James went to pick it up...and had a huge fender bender accident! There will probably $4000 damage to his truck. It was drivable for him to get home but he can't drive it to work...no headlights! Then yesterday my son went into a tail spin on the country roads, went off the road and hit a steel fence post with his car! Luckily his was the back end....looks like it tweaked the fender out of position and cracked his tail light. I will have to post pictures later tonight after work. Then they said they were taking my car into town to pick up my grandson! I DON'T THINK SO! LOL

James' work has their annual Christmas party Friday evening this week. They have it at the local golf course and serve a very nice meal! The best thing...the shrimp appetizer! Yummy!

This week I will be working on cleaning the stamp room and prepping for our annual Christmas party on Saturday. We do a drawing for a Secret Santa to be revealed at our party. We also do a Make 'n' Take and just chat. This year I will be serving a nice lunch for them too!

I am going to be doing some changes over the holiday with my blog. One change will be with the color and sketch challenges. I am thinking that I will do one each a month instead of two each a month. This will give people a chance to get the challenges done! :o)

Sunday, December 2

12/02/07 Sketch Challenge #5

...is up to your own creativity! :)
Actually there is one stipulation!
NO LAYERS...NO ACCESSORIES! :)

Yep you guessed it....LOOK MA! NO LAYERS! :)

You will have until the end of December 16th to upload your card for a freebie drawing! Just post the card to your website and put a link to it in your comments on this post!
